“Public Relations is vital to the integrated approach for our clients,” says John Risdall, Chairman of Risdall Advertising. “We know a first-class PR firm needs to be more than just another ad agency offering – to generate phenomenal results for clients and to succeed in a competitive environment, it needs leadership and vision: Rose McKinney embodies both.”
The current president-elect for the Minnesota chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), McKinney most recently served as vice president at Karwoski & Courage Public Relations in Minneapolis as part of its senior leadership team. Previously, McKinney headed the public relations department at The Foley Group (formerly Foley Sackett).
“I am as passionate about the powerful ways that PR positively impacts business as I am about the public relations business itself,” says Rose McKinney, president of Risdall McKinney Public Relations. “It is a career dream to join an independent, brand-marketing agency with such a long history of genius client work and a refreshing approach to integrated agency services.”
Risdall Advertising Agency boasts a client roster that includes relationships with 25 of the top 100 Minnesota public companies and nearly 60 divisions of 25 of the Fortune 500 companies in the United States. The client mix is one-third consumer and two-thirds business-to-business.
“I marvel at this amazing client base from which we are able to successfully cross sell integrated marketing: branding, interactive, advertising, fundraising and PR,” says John Risdall. “We take a marketing-agnostic approach with our clients so that we can always do what’s right for their business. And, the approach pays off in new client wins.” Since November 2005, the agency has added 9 new staff members and 13 new accounts as varied as the Illinois Employers Association, Japan Satellite Systems Inc. (J SAT International), and Pearson Assessment.
“By tapping Rose’s PR prowess we’ll service many of our current clients as well as build new client relationships,” says Risdall. McKinney brings a strong background of consumer and business to business experience. Most notably, McKinney is credited for her work to save the Twin Cities Shriners Hospital for Children, which was honored with a SABRE award and named as PR Week magazine’s health care campaign of the year in 2005. As well, her work for “Continental Harmony,” a national millennium celebration for the American Composers Forum received a SABRE award, a Silver Anvil Award of Excellence and “Best of Show” honors by the Minnesota PRSA Classics.
A graduate of Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa, McKinney is a community faculty member at Metropolitan State University teaching two public relations courses. “Few realize the critical role of public relations, so I enjoy introducing future marketing communications leaders to the fabulous potential of PR to build positive reputations and relationships that impact the ultimate success of our organizations.”
McKinney and her husband, Kelly, reside in Brooklyn Park, Minn., with their three children.
