The Gatekeeper

Born and raised in Waseca County, Minn., “we have a General Dollar store and a Walmart, we’re getting there...” Mandi grew up working at the Happy Chef, a local restaurant, as a server.  “The regulars provided some interesting stories. During bar time one of the customers lined the floor with creamers that led to their table, just to see if I would step on any of them.”

Favorite Candy At RAA

“Jellybeans! I am in jellybean haven.” You can catch her rustling through the jars to mix Pina Colada and the pink ones. (It’s only the beginning, Mandi.)

All-Inclusives’

  • Watching her brother graduate from Marine boot camp.
  • Being the first Minnesota BPA Idol singing an original anecdote of her own.  “It was just me, my guitar, and five other nerve-wrecked contestants.
  • Being one of the top 25 finalists in the 2007 Chevy College Super Bowl Challenge out of over 800 teams.
  • Traveling to Alaska for Spring Break to dip into the natural hot springs and watching the Northern Lights dance through the sky.

Hobbies

Don’t be fooled by her devilishly artistic side, Mandi used to play center in hockey, once qualifying for Nationals in the College Club Hockey Team. Off the ice, she pries back into her creative habits: avidly strumming the guitar, twanging the piano and single-handedly writing lyrical content.
