Judy Becker - Art Director
Judy Becker - Art Director

Hired September 1972

Background:

Judy has always worked with technology - from primitive types like cash registers up through typesetters and now computers. She's worked for the agency for (as noted above) many years and her graphic skills have grown along with her bawdy joke collection. Judy also acts as in-house calligrapher and illustrator on various projects.

Education:

  • Minneapolis Institute of Art and Design

Previous Work Experience:

Judy worked for Holden Business Forms from 1967 to 1972 before joining the agency. Most of the time she's glad she came here.

Potential Business Opportunity:

Mrs. Becker's Cookies. Though she has no intention of going into business, everyone at the agency can attest to the fact that Judy makes the best chocolate chip cookies on the planet, and would make a million if she sold them. A batch lasts just a morning at the agency, if that.

Trademark:

People expect only handmade, Becker-drawn cards (including Christmas cards) from Judy.

Family:

Judy, and her husband, Bob, live in New Brighton. Judy and Bob have a son (Jason) who is married and has a daughter, and a daughter (Kelly) who is married and has a son and a daughter. The grandkids keep them busy and young.

Interests and Hobbies:

Judy and Bob spend most of their summer weekends at their cabin in Siren, Wisconsin. (Their kids and grandkids come as often as they can.) Since Judy loves to decorate her home and cabin, you'll often find her lurking at farm auctions in neighboring towns - searching for her next antique.

Leave of Absence:

Judy took a well-deserved leave of absence from 2001-2003. She has always loved to draw and decided to treat herself to some time just for her. She filled up three 3-ring binders with drawings. During that time she created a business and did drawings for logos, did ads, wedding invitations, drawings of grandchildren for gifts and even did a drawing that will be transferred onto the back inside window of a '70 Charger. She's quick to say that the two year sabatical was probably the best thing she ever did for herself
