Background:

Grew up in Kasson, MN, a small rural town. Despite growing up in this perfect little community, she always wanted to live in the inner city. Now she does, and loves it.

Education:

An English Literature and Writing B.A. (despite her inability to spell) with a minor in Philosophy from Bethel college. She also spent a semester at an honors program in Oregon, where she read a lot and got her eyebrow pierced--with her mother's permission.

Work Experience:

You name it. Once she was given a personality test that indicated she would be good at sales, but all sorts of previous experiences directed her to a more "behind the scenes" role.

Hobbies and Interests:

Twelve years (and counting) of dancing her heart out-- everything from classical ballet to high-kick dance teams. Cooking and eating vegetarian, even in the Midwest. Environmentalism stuff, from letterwriting campaigns to neighborhood clean-ups to camping. Reading everything she has time for. Trying to enjoy getting into shape. Rock climbing. Keeping track of her friends across the globe. Thinking about and discussing theology.

Achievements:

Graduating with a four-year degree in three and a half years while continually having at least two jobs, being involved in three or four extra ciruculars, doing a semester off-campus, changing both her major and minor-- and maintaining relationships.

Family:

Two parents, an ugly dog and a younger brother who is possibly her most favorite person in the world.

Atypical Fact:

Debbie has never changed her hair style. Ever since she was born, her hair has been at least down to her waist, and stick straight. Except for the Halloween she dyed it "cranberry" for a day, and it stayed that color for a month and a half.
