Brian Flis

Art Director

Joined the agency in March 1999

Background:

Born, raised and educated here, Brian knows Minneapolis and St. Paul. Though he loves Minnesota, he heads to the mountains whenever he gets a chance.

Family:

Brian’s dad was a creative director, and his mom still owns a prop house for photographers: visual design is in his blood. He’s also an uncle to his sister’s twin daughters. Brian and his wife Monica have a flower shop and a springer-spaniel named Chester which, coincidentally, is also their neighbor’s name.

Education:

Bachelor of Arts from the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul. And he’s been learning and watching and practicing with his dad since he can remember.

Passions:

Brian skis down anything. He’s always active-- sports, outdoors, and anything else he discovers.

Role at RAA:

Adam makes our web pages work. He helps piece them together, programming them to work harder, faster.

Proudest Moment:

Finishing a grueling mountain bike race.

Hobbies & Interests:

"Just whipping up something" fabulous for dinner, especially his famous vegetable split-pea soup.
Projects of any sort. Monica is forever commandeering his talents with phrases like "I just sold a beautiful twenty-foot swag. Can you build me one?" Recently, a garden he designed for one of her clients was written up in Midwest Living.

Work Experience:

He interned at a small agency before working at Cambell Mithun Esty. He worked on several accounts there for five years before coming to RAA.

What he loves about advertising:

It’s about making an idea a reality.
The fact that a good design idea has staying power.
And the creative types seem to keep their youthfulness.
